for my sisters…

We hold each other’s hands
through time,
through space.
We encircle our worlds
with care,
with peace.
We begin to see the power
of love,
of grace.
We carry each other’s hearts
through time,
through space.
We do.

This little ditty was inspired by the thirty women I spent last week with in Taos as part of Jen Louden’s writers retreat at the quirky and incredible Mabel Dodge Luhan House. They changed my life, my world view, my future. As all of you do, every day.

I am so grateful to each of you in that small circle of loveliness and wisdom, and to each of you in all of my ever widening circles in this life.
Thank you.

You are me, and I am you.
Isn’t it obvious that we “inter-are”?
You cultivate the flower in yourself,
so that I will be beautiful.
I transform the garbage in myself,
so that you will not have to suffer.

Walk with the dreamers, the believers,
the courageous, the cheerful,
the planners, the doers,
the successful people
with
their heads in the clouds and
their feet on the ground.

I am feeling particularly grateful today for the company I keep here in the Wireless World,
in physical presence and in my heart.
I am so blessed to have so many incredible souls in my life.
Thank you. You make my world wonder full.

When I am alone, the flowers are really seen; I can pay attention to them. They are felt as presences. Without them I would die. Why do I say that? Partly because they change before my eyes. They live and die in a few days; they keep me closely in touch with process, with growth, and also with dying. I am floated on their moments.

I can’t imagine life without flowers, without plants, without the sky. I would be so lost. They are my comfort, my teachers, my guides and friends, and they always have been.
The magic of friendship…

Friends are as companions on a journey, who ought to aid each other to persevere on the road to a happier life.
~ Pythogoras ~
As I have mentioned before, I have an incredible group of friends here in the Wireless World, and I do my best to visit each of them often. I subscribe to several blogs and make the rounds of others and always come away with new things to think about, with a great deal of respect for the authors, and more often than not, tears in my eyes. Sometimes the tears come from the pull on my heartstrings, and other times it is from a fit of laughter, but always because I am deeply moved.
Today was a banner day 0n the blog circuit and given that it is about time to make dinner and my mind is a little bit elsewhere, I thought I would share these three posts with you (and if you’d like to keep reading, just click anywhere on my “Sites I Like” list to your right – plenty of good there!). Lindsey, Pamela and Christine are women who I admire deeply – I think you will, too. I cannot imagine my life without their words anymore – and these particular posts? Just pure gold.
We are friends…

We are friends and I do like to pass the day with you in serious and in inconsequential chatter. I wouldn’t mind washing up beside you, dusting beside you, reading the back half of the paper while you read the front. We are friends and I would miss you, do miss you and think of you very often.
~ Jeannette Winterson ~
I have spent the last couple days with one of my most dear friends, Miss J. We met when our kids were in preschool and have weathered so many ups and downs together over the years, but have never had this many hours together, largely uninterrupted. We are used to stealing a moment here and there, in between carpooling and wiping faces and delivering forgotten lunches. We’ve gone from dress up play dates to first sleepovers to school field trips to quick phone calls across the miles. And now, this. A few days to spend as we like.
What a wonderful thing to just move through the day, side by side, one long winding conversation stopping and starting as we go. The quote says it all. What a gift, this moment in time.
Maybe…just maybe…

“maybe…just maybe…
all you can do is love with all
you have inside of you.
and maybe that love will
heal your wounds.”
~ Terri St. Cloud ~
I first got to know Terri through the beautiful cards she creates at Bone Sigh Arts. Every once in a while, I would be in a little store, or a wonderful gift shop and there would be these incredibly wise and visually calming cards. I’d read them all, select a few, send them off to friends. I only knew the company name, though, and never imagined that one woman wrote the verses I found so soothing and inspiring. Her story is one that I both admire and identify with – maybe you will too – you can find it here.
Then recently, through a chain of comments and the emails of a dear WW friend, I discovered that Terri St. Cloud is the sage voice behind Bone Sigh Arts, and we have been so excited to find that we live within an hour’s drive of each other. Imagine! So I will be visiting with her soon, and it seems likely that there will be a post in that visit. In the meantime, though, I hope you will visit her site, read her blog, and find some comfort there for yourself.
