daring to be…

We have to dare to be ourselves, however frightening or strange that self may prove to be.

They are felt…

When I am alone, the flowers are really seen; I can pay attention to them. They are felt as presences. Without them I would die. Why do I say that? Partly because they change before my eyes. They live and die in a few days; they keep me closely in touch with process, with growth, and also with dying. I am floated on their moments.

I can’t imagine life without flowers, without plants, without the sky. I would be so lost. They are my comfort, my teachers, my guides and friends, and they always have been.

Time to be…

I have time to think. That is the great, the greatest luxury. I have time to be. Therefore my responsibility is huge. To use time well and to be all that I can in whatever years are left to me. This does not dismay.

I’m beginning to think that this is what we are all here for: to be, and to be ourselves in a huge and true way. Really, it’s all we can do well.
And if you think about it, I don’t think you’ll be dismayed, either.
